Penge sits 3.5 miles west of Bromley town centre and 6.8 miles from Charing Cross, with 17,326 people in the Penge and Cator ward at the 2011 census. It is the densest area we cover.

It became a fashionable Victorian suburb on the back of the railway and the relocated Crystal Palace, and by 1862 substantial houses lined the main roads. The density of that period is hard to overstate — the area was reputed to have twenty-five pubs to the square mile plus two music halls.
